Abundance affirmations are positive statements used to connect with the universe's infinite prosperity.

People have thousands of thoughts every day, many of them negative and self-limiting. Affirmations are a way to change this negative self-talk into supportive thoughts. Changing thoughts of lack into thoughts of abundance helps to attract the prosperity that most people seek in life.

The most basic guidelines for creating affirmations are that they are positive, stated in the present tense, and short and specific. While it's not necessary to fully believe the affirmation initially, it's important that the affirmation is believable. A good affirmation is also personal and has feeling.

Louise Hay's Abundance Affirmations

Louise Hay has influenced many people with her book You Can Heal Your Life. She explains that using affirmations is like planting seeds; an acorn does not produce an oak tree overnight, and it often takes time for affirmations to produce results.

Two affirmations for prosperity from Hay include, "I am open and receptive to new avenues of income," and "I am a unlimited being accepting from an unlimited source in an unlimited way." And two more affirmations to open the space to begin creating prosperity are, "I am willing to change," and "I am willing to release old, negative beliefs."

Dr. Wayne Dyer's Abundance Affirmations

In his books, Dr. Wayne Dyer offers a wide range of affirmations. In The Power of Intention, he says, "I am success. I am abundance. I attract success and abundance into my life because that is who I am."

Some abundance affirmations presented in Excuses Begone! include, "I am connected to an unlimited source of abundance," and "I am worthy of attracting unlimited abundance and prosperity into my life, regardless of what life experiences have gone before me. I only reinforce and contemplate images that are in harmony with this vision."

Common Abundance Affirmations

Some common abundance affirmations include:

  • "I am a money magnet. Money comes easily to me."
  • "The universe is an abundant place. I am connected to the abundance of the universe."
  • "I am creating money in my life. It's great to have money!"
  • "Money comes to me in unexpected and miraculous ways. I am grateful for all I have."

The Secret to Affirmations that Work

When affirmations don't work for people, it's often for one of two reasons. First, the person may be using an affirmation that does not reflect their true inner desires. Just because a particular affirmation is effective for one person doesn't mean it's the right affirmation for someone else. An affirmation must resonate with a person's inner being.

Second, the person may be affirming one thing while feeling something different. For example, affirming that the universe is an abundant place while feeling anxiety about an empty bank account is ineffective. When affirming prosperity, a person must feel prosperous if they are to attract prosperity. As Abraham says in Money and the Law of Attraction, "Anytime you feel negative emotion, you are in the mode of resisting something that you want."

Working with Abundance Affirmations

To vary the practice of affirmations and avoid becoming rote, a person can not only think affirmations silently, but also say them aloud or write them down. It's most important to get into the feeling of the words, because the universe is energy and energy likes to match other energy.

Using abundance affirmations, people can connect their energy to the abundance of the universe. Choosing affirmations that are meaningful and practicing them regularly changes negative self-talk into positive and supportive thought.
