Be a Self Change AgentNature is a Great Example of Experiencing Change
Each morning brings in new hope, new dreams and a renewed strength. People generally feel change a loaded word and resist it unless they see an immediate material gain.
Look at newly born resisting change by crying. Humans are born tight fist, die hands open symbolizing that life necessitates change from past memories to a new life of purity and innocence. People frequently change friends, jobs, and lifestyle. But when they are advised to change their attitudes, thoughts, and habits, many resist. Evolution is a process of change that brings along new opportunities, challenges, and thoughts. Volunteering for change requires determination, patience, discipline, and a will to fight all odds. Some people attempt to initiate change, but abandon the attempt when they do not witness immediate gains. True ghange is indeed difficult to pursue, as it neither happens overnight nor without sustained efforts in changing attitudes and beliefs. How to ChangeTo facilitate change, one must believe that life is his/her own creation. To break the shackles of status quo, people need to have self determination and one must periodically dust the cobwebs from the mind. Watching and cherishing nature’s moments such as sunrise, blooming flowers, a cool morning breeze, and chirping birds helps to calm the mind, it energizes thoughts. This readies the mind for change. Brainwash the SubconsciousAccording to Adrian Cooper (MindPowerNews.com), “The subconscious mind is around 90% of your total mind power as opposed to the 10% of mind that you usually use in your normal daily waking state.” Some suggest that people can use the power of subconscious mind to improve life by brainwashing negative thoughts and beliefs by repeated affirmations. It appears that affirmations are like change mantras and they force the subconscious mind to act in to a desired positive or negative action. According to IBNLive.in.com, the terrorists who attacked Mumbai in "India's 9/11" were brainwashed to carry mission of destruction. Conversely, affirmations can work toward changing attitudes and habits in a positive way, making for a happy and successful life. Change Internal CommunicationChange initially brings fear and doubts such as, “If unsuccessful, what will happen?" In order to put life to bet and test, handle change with care, motivation, and a positive approach. Norman Vincent Peale once said, “Whenever a negative thought concerning your personal power comes to mind, deliberately voice a positive thought to cancel it out.” Optimism is a platform for change. People need to change statements such as "it’s a myth – thoughts never change," to, "With control and practice, thoughts will change." Controlling Your Own Mind To orient the mind for change, analyze the prevailing thoughts, beliefs, mental images, emotions, habits, and reactions and decide a course of action for correction. As Ralph Emerson said, “A man is what he thinks about all day long.” It is advisable that people go back to a week in the past and remember communication exchanged on some major issues with colleagues or family members. Pick on the phrases repeatedly used. For instance: “O dear getting old / every thing is destined / difficult to take risk etc”. Frequent usage of negative feelings speaks volumes of the mind-set. Think reverse of above statements and practice weeding out the standard phrases. Request spouse/ friend to act as a change referee. Change is a Continuous MissionIncorporating change is time consuming. Breaking the mission into small objectives and starting with the easy options first makes spurring change much easier. For instance, one might pick on one or two beliefs that serve as obstacles to progress progress; the individual can then slowly work to change those beliefs with persistent effort. Visualizing and mentally picturing success, a new job, and happy relationships is a good start when it comes to initiating change. Start with one belief and imagine how life would improve if that belief was altered. Repeatedly practicing affirmations is another method that can bring about change. Be ContentContentment varies from person to person. People are free to desire whatever they wish provided it improves quality of life, stability of thoughts, and satisfaction. A contended mind accepts changes faster than a jumping mind. Change is, no doubt, tedious, time consuming and it requires patience and dedication. People need not rush up and think of past failures or future apprehensions. Sustained efforts and willingness is all that is needed to experience change. Humans need to be convinced that attitudes, habits, and beliefs can be improved and changed through passion for success and self-experimentation.
